چکیده

Abstract. Over a six-month period from late January to early August 2021 the Historic Environment Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) Abu Dhabi carried out archaeological monitoring along 11.5km stretch project renew existing border fence between United Arab Emirates Oman within oasis city Al Ain.The scope sequence construction determined excavation recording methodology employed. The trench was roughly straight-sided, 3.5m wide by 3–4m deep entailed machine more than million cubic meters. Documentation this trench, which proceeded at an average distance 80m day, has informed our understanding landscape, identified locations for future work assisted ongoing efforts manage protect historic environment. produced new data on development landscape Ain, UNESCO World Heritage property. Some most significant features revealed include monumental stone tomb Late Bronze Age (2000–1300 BCE), extensive Iron (1200-300 BCE) cemetery, high-status tombs Pre-Islamic date (300 BCE–300 CE) 50 ancient aflāj or underground water channels various dates techniques construction, with evidence distinct phases agriculture.Photogrammetry sessions numbered nearly three hundred in total, together creating series consecutive overlapping 3D models ortho-rectified images plan section have been each zones route. This paper discusses practice workframe as it evolved over course project, challenges found during acquisition phase terms environment, lighting, geometry, tools, time team size. It presents system used digital archive needed keep track 288 recorded photogrammetry sessions, related ground control points survey. available solutions rapid processing delivery geo-referenced generated throughout project. concludes some general remarks peculiarly linear challenge presenting results long both hard-copy formats.

Photogrammetry for Archaeological Documentation and Cultural Heritage Conservation

Photogrammetry is the art and science of deriving accurate 3-D metric and descriptive object information from multiple analogue and digital images. Recently, there has been an increasing interest in utilizing imagery in different fields such as archaeology, architecture, mechanical inspection, and surgery. Photogrammetry is concerned with deriving measurements of the size, shape, position and t...

Advances in Close-Range Photogrammetry

This paper presents a general overview of notable developments in close-range photogrammetry (CRP) over the past four decades, during which time both automated processes were introduced and the full transition from film-based to digital imaging cameras occurred. With these developments and more recent innovations centred upon so-called structure-frommotion approaches to network orientation, alo...

Close-range Photogrammetry for Accident Reconstruction

Throughout the last decade forensic scientists, technicians and police have employed a number of 3D measurement tools for crime scene and accident reconstruction. These have ranged from the basic, such as EDM instruments, to the complex, namely terrestrial laser scanners. In the field of traffic accident reconstruction, close-range photogrammetry is now being adopted, primarily because of the g...

An Application of Close Range Photogrammetry in Dolphin Studies

Dolphins are agile animals and are very difficult to measure at sea. However, for the conservation of threatened or endangered species, measurement may be vital because it allows a demographic analysis of the population. Hector’s dolphin (Cephalorhynchus hectori) is a rare species living only in coastal waters around New Zealand where it is studied from small boats. This paper describes a stere...

Quick Solutions Particularly in Close Range Photogrammetry

In this work we tried to solve some non-linear problems of analytic photogrammetry. These problems are also widely flowed into the digital photogrammetry. The model formation considering the solution of the Relative Orientation, and the object reconstruction considering the solution of the Absolute Orientation have non-linear functional models. These models need an exhaustive research of the pr...
